A controversial new German AIDS campaign is under fire for showing an Adolf Hitler lookalike having sex. The tagline of the ad: AIDS is a mass murderer.

With new infections occurring at increasing rate, are provocative tactics like this what's need to shock younger people into awareness of HIV?

The campaign also includes featuring lookalikes of Joseph Stalin and Saddam Hussein engage in sex with young women.

I'm not sure about the ad - could cut both ways. Might be effective in raising awareness among youngsters but on the other hand that "mass murder" theme could also spark more hatred against gays - something we don't need.

On the other hand, I am very much aware of how younger men don't seem to understand how dangerous unsafe sex can be. Just got one of "those calls" a couple of weeks ago from a 29 year old friend who told me that his latest broke down and told him he was poz after a few weeks of bareback sex. Our young people did not live through the hell that was the 80's. They just don't know.
