Rev. Rob Hardies: I believe it is wrong to use the language of war to speak about matters of love

As we prepare for the introduction of a marriage bill in the D.C. City Council, opponents of equality are ratcheting up their violence rhetoric. They've used phrases such as "declaration of war" and "civil war" to whip D.C. residents into an anti-gay frenzy in hopes of banning marriage for same-sex couples and legislating discrimination against gay and lesbian families.

Rev. Rob Hardies, Senior Minister of All Souls Church, addresses the issues of marriage equality, violent rhetoric from anti-equality activists, and marriage is about love not war. This speech was given earlier this summer at a press conference announcing D.C. Clergy for Marriage, a group of religious leaders from across the District and of many faiths who support marriage equality.
