Mexico City legalizes same-sex marriage

Mexico City has become the first Latin American city to legalize same-sex marriage. While other cities have passed civil union registrations, Mexico City is the first to give LGBT citizens the full equality. The new law also gives gay couples adoption and inheritance rights.

No word yet on whether or not President Felipe Calderón will step in, but his party has announced they will oppose the measure. I wonder if NOM will be forming a new chapter in Mexico with the help of the Catholics...
