I got to catch up with Michael Urie at the GLAAD Media Awards when I was covering the red carpet. urie.jpgI had gotten to see his off-broadway play The Tempermentals, about pre-Stonewall gay activist group, The Mattachine Society, earlier this year. It was a great play and has been extended multiple times and is now running at New World Stages in New York (the unofficial nexus of gay off-broadway productions -- Naked Boys Singing and Altar Boyz both run in rep there).

Michael was super nice and funny in our interview. I wish him the best of luck in his future career, and I hope to see him in more television after Ugly Betty closes out at the end of the season.

yep, very cute, very nice, VERY intelligent, and quotable: "i was, like, where's yer microphone," as he first looks Jason up and down, and then gives us an accomplished actor's studied, brief, yet very focused lingering of the eyes over J's . . . um, belt?

and love his overture to "youth!" at the very end with yet another deep, blue-eyed look into Jason's understandably adoring drk brns. hmmm . . .

but most of all, i love the fact that Bilerico has a lovingly growing youtube thingie!! i mean, um, hmmm . . .
