Our anniversary: A dozen years

It seems crazy that it's been so long...

10yearmontage.jpgToday is my and Jerame's anniversary. We've been together for 12 years now - a full dozen.

We've had our ups and downs like any other couples, but we've also faced quite a bit of adversity head on as a team and I'd like to think we've come out of the situations as better people.

We've raised a daughter together, put Jerame through college, worked ungodly jobs to support the family, spoken out and worked for LGBT rights in a less than hospitable climate, endured anti-gay discrimination together, and tried to make Indiana a more welcoming state for the other gays and lesbians who would follow us in the fight. We've tried to make the world a better place to the best of our abilities - and to challenge each other to live up to those ideals both personally and professionally.

As we start a new portion of our lives in Washington DC - Mecca for political types like us - I know we'll face any challenges just like we have for the past dozen years.

Congrats- so what are the secrets for 12 years? Please share...

Congratulations, Bil. May it last for dozens more. :)

All the best to you both in your continued lives together and in your new life in DC! My parnter Mike and I will also celebrate 12 years together in about six months from now so tell me what do you get someone for the 12th year?

I'm going for the simple gift. (We don't usually do much more than go out for a romantic dinner on anniversaries.)

A dozen red roses.

Its a little cold tonight- but a evening stroll around the lincoln monument and going to the back, sitting at the top, and looking at the eternal flame (and making out) is one of the most romantic things to do in dc...

Congratulations! That's a long time.

Congratulations to you both. My partner and I are in our 28th year. Don't wish to brag, but there are few places to do that where anyone would care!
Ironic thing is we have been together far longer than any of our straight friends. Anyway, wishing you many more years together of contentment, romance and lust!

Cutey cute cuties! I wish you many more. :->

I'm so glad you two are gay for each other. Congrats!

So sickeningly cute, it's detestable! What right have you to rub your successful relationships on the normal, dysfunctional and overwhelmingly separated populace?

More seriously, though, congrats. I hope you can live with the guilt of possibly sending me into a diabetic coma with such sweetness.

Goodness gracious that daughter of yours is as cute as a button, the little munchkin. Her radiant smile is testament to your success as a family, and I wish you guys the best of luck in your new endeavors.

Congratulations, Bil and Jerame. You've been together longer than many heterosexuals we know.

As we say in Nova Scotia, "You boys is some cute!"
Congratulations and all the very best,

Anniversaries are great- they don't count so much the passage of time as they remind me of the possibility of love- and of the infinite combinations couples like you provide for the rest of us...

I have nothing but loving envy for you...

And I wish you, Jerame and that lucky, beautiful daughter of yours, continued health and prosperity.

Congratulations, Bil and Jerame. What's so impressive about your anniversary is that you've reached this milestone at such a young age.

And it's good that you have each other to face the tribulations of DC together. It will make your time there less treacherous.
