Those damnable autoplay ads

Folks, thanks for writing in about those damnable ads that for AirWick scented candles, Lysol, LimeAway and Delsym that keep autoplaying video and audio. We've had reports that they're crashing some people's browsers, but it seems most of you just find them annoying as hell.

annoying-airwick-ad.jpgI do too. I've written the service provider to ask that they be removed immediately. We don't get a chance to approve or disapprove those ads, but we have autoplay ads turned off on all the services we control. This provider is usually pretty good about catching those types of annoying ads and snuffing them out, but these damnable ads are the same ones that ran around this time last year.

Personally, I, for one, will not be purchasing generic AirWick, Lysol, LimeAway or Delysm anytime soon now that they've annoyed me this much. Throw in the e-mailed complaints and we've got an even bigger reason to say, "No thanks."

I apologize for the inconvenience. They should be removed soon.

One is playing as I type this. I'm at work on my personal computer and one started blaring away for all to hear. I had to mute the audio. Thank you for taking care of this.

How ironic: "Delsym, silence is relief."

Although, I have no argument against that assertion, I think your service providers could do with a dose of the medicines they're hawking.

SIDE EFFECTS - Delsym ads may cause, anxiety, dizzyness, nausea, ringing in ears, reduced attention span, trouble concentrating, loss of interest, the urge to take computer and hurl through window

Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Bilerico's service provider.

Thank you. I've had some of these same ad issues crashing my Firefox.

Ha, I would recommend people not run flash. Flashblock, Clicktoflash; these are both good things.

Thanks Bil. Yesterday this site was still crashing my Firefox but today it seems stable.

They should be gone now entirely. We ended up removing the ad service entirely.

I was able to get by for a while with: Tools->Options->Manage Add-Ons->Plugins->Shockwave flash->Disable.
