On Thursday, Alex Blaze pointed out the heartwarming highroad that the Irish Foreign Minister took by refusing to be the grand marshal of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade. He turned down the offer because he opposed the parade's exclusion of the gay and lesbian community.

st-patricks-parade.jpg"Exclusion is not an Irish thing," Eamon Gilmore said.

The following corporations and organizations did not take the high road. They sponsored the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade.

  • Ford Motor Company
  • Quinnipiac University
  • Manhattan College
  • Yonkers Raceway
  • Tourism Ireland
  • Emma Kate Tobia
  • The Irish Examiner
  • The Padded Wagon
  • U.S. Bancorp
  • Group Photos Inc.
  • Turtle Wax
  • Empire State Building
  • Bud Light
  • Gregory Harrington
  • DIG Landscaping & Maintenance Ltd & Property Support Services

I have a feeling this list would be longer if the organizers would end their hurtful discrimination practices.

I think I'll write to both Tourism Ireland and The Irish Examiner to complain.
