220px-Ambassador_Jon_Huntsman.jpgFormer Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced this morning that he would be seeking the GOP nomination for President. The moderate Republican is best known among the LGBT community for his support of civil unions.

Huntsman served as Ambassador to China under President Obama, a sticking point for some Republicans. The former diplomat called for a more civil tone toward the president in the upcoming campaign.

"He and I have a difference of opinion on how to help the country we both love," Huntsman said. "But the question each of us wants the voters to answer is who will be the better president; not who's the better American."

Huntsman made his announcement in front of the Statue of Liberty. Ronald Reagan also used the same photo op location and, like any good modern day Republican, Huntsman invoked the former President's name during his speech.

Contributor Michael Hamar has written repeatedly about Huntsman's record on progressive issues. He calls Huntsman a "Manchurian candidate."

Acutaly he is what passes for a moderate now days in the TEA/GOP party. As such he's dead far as the TEA side goes they dont like RINO moderates etc. Untill some one reminds them they are not the majority of the GOP they will be picking the nominiee as they scream the loudest.

Politics is a contact sport with no rules.

Now let's think about this. A charismatic handsome Mormon millionaire with impeccable credentials? This has to be one of the slickest ploys I have seen from the plantation owners in the last several decades. The slaves will be wonderfully entertained for the next 17 months as the evangelical righteous right has a hissy fit and bolts for a third party. By the time the election is over Obama will still be in the white house, the federal debt will top 20 trillion and we will still have troops stationed in 140 countries. Brilliant!
