In a more-than-obvious effort to align with Margaret Thatcher's popularity among the Republican right, Sarah Palin hopes4250453400_32d80699cc.jpg to stop in London for a visit with the Iron Lady during an upcoming trip to Sudan in July.

The visit would take place around the time of a statue unveiling at the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square for Ronald Reagan's centennial birth year on July 4, where Thatcher will be in attendance. Palin said, "I am just hoping Mrs Thatcher is well enough to see me as I so admire her."

According to Thatcher's aides, the meeting is unlikely to take place - but a confidant of Thatchers admits it isn't because of poor health:

Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.

Ha! As much as I despise Thatcher, her career, and her political alliance with Reagan and the destruction it caused, at least she got one thing right.
