While many progressives, Latinos and students celebrated the Oct. 9 signing of the California Dream Act by Gov. Jerry Brown, many Republicans - including Assemblymember Tim Donnelly hate it. Donnelly has launched an effort to repeal the Dream Act through a referendum. Here he speaks to KNBC's Fred Roggin.

It is not just Republicans but many liberal Democrats who are opposed to the Dream Act. It is ridiculous that an American from Nevada has to pay much higher tuition than an illegal alien from Mexico to go to school in California. That cannot stand. We should not be coddling the criminals that are undermining the rule of law and the economy and culture of our state.
