Dharun Ravi has rejected the state's offered plea deal in the case alleging he caused Tyler Clementi's suicide. Ravi set up a web cam to spy on Clementi, his roommate at Rutgers University and then broadcast it to another classmate's room so they could watch him make out with another male student and mock him. Ravi faces 15 criminal counts including violation of privacy and evidence tampering, but the plea deal seemed pretty lenient.

"Simple answer, simple principle," his lawyer, Steven Altman, said after the court hearing, according to The Associated Press.

"He's innocent. He's not guilty. That's why he rejected the plea."

The Middlesex County prosecutor's office offered Ravi no prison time but included community service, probation and counseling as terms of the plea-bargain agreement, the judge said.

The state also agreed to help the young man fight any deportation orders since he is in the U.S. legally but is an Indian citizen.

So let's see... He's admitted he did it. His fellow accused student has admitted it. There's evidence he did it. The state is offering to allow him to not only stay out of prison, but stay in the country. Fuck it. Go to trial, find him guilty, lock him up, and then throw him out of the states.
