This morning the New Zealand parliament passed marriage equality legislation by a vote of 77 to 44. Immediately following passage, the room broke out into song as spectators and legislators alike crooned "Pokarekare Ana," a traditional indigenous love song.

I'm not known for my kind and gentle nature, but even my hard and cynical heart cracked when I watched this. I'll admit it; it made me cry. You will too.
