-- Cardinal Raymond Burke, a Vatican fashion icon and the divisive and virulently homophobic leader of the Catholic Church's conservative wing, confirming to BuzzFeed that Pope Francis plans to remove him from his position as Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura -- the Vatican equivalent of the Supreme Court -- and installed instead as head of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, a largely ceremonial role.

This is the second time Francis has demoted Burke -- last year, the pontiff took him off of the prestigious Congregation for Bishops, which helps the Pope select new leaders of the Catholic Church.
