over-the-rainbow-oz.jpgThe United States Supreme Court has just denied a request from the state of Kansas to stay a pro-marriage equality federal court ruling, effectively allowing same-sex couples the freedom to marry in the Sunflower State.

The Court issued a one-page order noting that Justice Sotomayor, who is responsible for stay requests from the Tenth Circuit, referred Kansas's emergency motion to the full Court for consideration. It denied the state's request without explanation, but it did note that Justices Scalia and Thomas would have granted the application for a stay.

State #33 -- congratulations to LGBT couples and families in Kansas!! Eat your heart out, Westboro Baptist Church!
