charles-manson-getting-married.jpgCharles Manson -- the racist, megalomaniacal, homicidal, inmate-for-life octogenarian with a swastika carved into his forehead -- is getting hitched. He will be denied conjugal visits with his 26-year-old bride-to-be.

I'm waiting for the outrage from Tony Perkins, Maggie Gallagher, Brian Brown, and all the other people who think John and me being married is an abomination.

I'm not denying that criminals have rights, but if you're cool with the Josephite union of one of America's most objectively horrible citizens ever -- ever! -- then what kind of mental gymnastics do you have to go through to fight against the legal recognition of millions of objectively normal, good people?

It isn't that Manson shouldn't be able to marry, it's that this episode highlights the sheer hypocrisy of those who gin up moral outrage against same-sex couples who wish to wed, yet stay silent when someone who's actually behaved immorally, like Manson, ties the knot.

The point is that everyone -- regardless of age, sexual orientation, or incarcerated status -- should have the right to marry the person they love.
