randy-thomas-2014.jpgRandy Thomas -- a former "ex-gay" spokesman who served as executive vice president of Exodus International until it folded in 2013 -- is coming out of the closet. He writes on his personal blog:

"To be honest and accurate, I would have to say that I am gay with some level of bisexual tendencies. The truth is, that my primary sexual attraction is toward men. It is also true that to date the love of my life has been a woman. I was attracted to her in every way. Many people won't believe me but what I just shared is true. I would be lying by omission if I didn't share that side of myself... it is most accurate to say that I am gay with a bisexual propensity that I can't adequately describe".

Thomas says that he is currently celibate and not in a hurry to change that, but adds that he sees a future relationship with a man (or a woman) as a possibility.

Today's disclosure is the latest step in Thomas's evolution. In 2013 he apologized for the harm caused by so-called "ex-gay" programs, and for his role in Exodus's three-decade crusade against the LGBT community. Last year, he apologized for his high-profile anti-marriage equality advocacy and later came out as a freedom-to-marry supporter himself. And now, he is openly identifying with the LGBT community.

"I am not sure many will accept my apologies or this disclosure," Thomas writes. "I would definitely understand some people's reluctance given my history. That said, while I care about what others think, I am doing this because I feel it is the right thing to do."

"I am gay. I am ok with who I am," he concludes. "I hope we can continue to journey together."

Indeed. Welcome (back) out, Randy.
